>>Apartment Fire Leaves Heavy Damages, Injuries

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Several people are being treated for injuries and widespread damages are reported following last night's fire at a Salt Lake City apartment complex. Fire officials say six units of the three-story apartment complex on West Snow Queen Place have been gutted and another ten units have heavy damages. Most of the residents injured are recovering from smoke inhalation but two people did suffer more serious injuries while trying to escape. Investigators haven't said what caused the fire.

(Logan, UT) -- A Logan family is mourning the death of a three-year-old after a fatal weekend accident on Highway 89. Young Madison Urland was a passenger in her family's car Saturday when it was struck from behind by a teen driving an SUV. Urland was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center where she died yesterday. Three other family members were all recovering in different conditions, including the girl's 70-year-old grandmother who remains critical with several bone breaks.

>>Midvale Shooting Leaves On Dead

(Midvale, UT) -- A fatal shooting early yesterday morning is under investigation in Midvale. Authorities say 31-year-old Justen Len Lefave was killed two days before his birthday in the early-morning hours in front of his apartment. He was allegedly shot during a brief exchange with a man and two women at the front door of his Wasatch Cub Apartment unit. The alleged gunman and two women were seen by witnesses fleeing in a tan GMC Yukon with chrome rims and tinted windows.

>>SLC FBI Agent Credited For Helpful Computer Software

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- An investigator in Salt Lake City is credited with designing and creating special computer software to help fight the battle against child sex crimes. The "Tribune" says FBI special agent Eric Zimmerman was recently cited for his contributions in fighting sex crimes. Zimmerman's software, which is said to change the way cases are investigated, has led to more than 200 arrests since it was first used a year ago. One other benefit is that Zimmerman's software can be used by all law enforcement agencies for free.

 
 
 
>>Political Scientist Says "Religiosity" Same Among LDS Men, Women

(Undated) -- A political scientist says the level of "religiosity" is equal among LDS men and women. The "Salt Lake Tribune" reports David Campbell was responding to a survey of 500 self-described Mormons. Campbell addressed a conference at the Fort Douglas Officer's Club at the University of Utah campus called Women and the LDS Church. Scholars spoke on Mormon women and their options.

>>Apartment Complex Fire Injures Eight People

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Eight people are hurt in a Salt Lake City apartment complex fire. They included on person who jumped from the second floor and another who broke a window to get out. The fire early yesterday on West Snow Queen Place also left a number of people without a place to live. The Red Cross was helping find places for them.

>>Doctor Accused Of Killing Wife

(Pleasant Grove, UT) -- Bond is one-million dollars for a Pleasant Grove doctor accused of killing his wife in 2007. Martin Joseph MacNeil allegedly overmedicated his wife, Michele. A medical examiner says the woman was then drowned in a bathtub. MacNeil was booked into the Utah County Jail.

>>Herriman Reseeding After Fire

(Herriman, UT) -- Hundreds of volunteers are helping Herriman reseed and recover from the Rose Crest Fire damage this summer. The reseeding crew this weekend included Herriman High School football players. The fire covered about 650 acres and wiped out four homes. Reseeding is an attempt to provide vegetation to prevent erosion and flooding.
LOGAN — A Farmington girl died Sunday following a vehicle collision on Highway 89 Saturday afternoon.
Madison Urland, 3, was one of four people in a passenger car that was hit from behind as it was traveling below the speed limit northbound on the road at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Her 70-year-old grandmother, Marco Merrill, and mother, Monica Urland, were in the front seat of the car and a 5-year-old brother, Braden Urland, was with Madison in the back seat.
 BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — An Midvale man was killed in a rollover accident on a popular trail near the top of Mineral Basin in Big Cottonwood Canyon, on Sunday.
Walter S. Engel, 74, died after he drove off the side of Mineral Fork Trail for an unknown reason, ended up on a steep hill, lost control and rolled, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The ATV came to rest on top of Engel and Hoyal said Engel was not wearing a helmet.
