(Moab Utah) Producers of the movie, "The Lone Ranger", Disney reported have told the Moab to Monument Valley Film Commission that the month of local filming activty in the area resulted in a four and half million dollar boost to our local economy. At least 230 loal short tem jobs were created, 14 motels were contracted for rooms for 700 film company employees. The film is to be released July 3rd next year.

Following a protracted debate between Grand County Council member Chris Baird and Recreation District Chairman Mike Steele over information on the proposed ball field and other improvements at Old Spanish Trail Arena, the County Council voted 5 to 2 to approve apllying to the Community Impact board for a 1 million dollar grant.
>>Pinyon Fire Jumps Containment Line Toward Herriman

(Eagle Mountain, UT) -- Firefighters are still struggling to contain the Pinyon Fire at Camp Williams. Last night, the fire jumped a containment line toward Herriman and is now burning that way. The fire has burned 45-hundred acres and is only about ten-percent contained. Earlier yesterday, firefighters had reported improvement up to 40-percent containment. Residents near the fire are still being warned to prepare to evacuate.

>>Susan Powell Obsession Shown In Father-In-Law's Journal

(Tacoma, WA) -- It's pretty clear that a man now in jail in Washington state had a serious obsession with his daughter-in-law, Susan Powell. Steve Powell's journals were used as evidence against him in a voyeurism case and now they've been released to "The News Tribune" in Tacoma. In the more than 23-hundred pages, he wrote about fantasies and love for Susan Powell. She disappeared in December 2009. Her husband, Josh, was the only person of interest in the case and he killed himself and the couple's two children earlier this year.

>>Six Counties Have More Voters Than Residents

(Undated) -- There are six counties in Utah that currently have more registered voters than actual residents. The "Salt Lake Tribune" reports a Texas voting watchdog group has sent letters to each of the five counties, asking for an explanation. In Summit county, older, inaccurate statistics may have been used to come up with a surplus of nearly one-thousand registered voters. There were also problems in Grand, Daggett, Rich, Carbon and San Juan counties.
 
 


>>LDS Church Leader Released From Calling After Bizarre Attack

(Sandy, UT) -- An LDS Church leader in Sandy is being released from his calling after a bizarre series of attacks. Prosecutors say Efrey Guzman first grabbed and kissed a 13-year-old girl he knew back in May. No police report was filed. Then last week, he came back. This time, he barged in, groped the mother and when she yelled, her adult son came to help. Prosecutors then say Guzman attacked the son and bit his penis so badly the man needed surgery. He was formerly an LDS branch president over a Latino congregation.

>>Hundreds Of Pounds Of Spice Seized In Taylorsville Bust

(Taylorsville, UT) -- Hundreds of pounds of a synthetic drug are off the streets after a bust in Taylorsville. The "Deseret News" reports police arrested five people and confiscated hundreds of pounds of Spice. They believe they broke up a large-scale spice manufacturing and distribution ring. All of the arrests took place over two days across the valley, and only after a two-month investigation before it. The operation used a Taylorsville UPS store to receive the chemicals, which were then made into spice in three different homes.

>>Utah Market Earns Highest Olympic Ratings

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Sports fans in Salt Lake City are earning high marks in the latest TV ratings for this years Olympic games. Per household, more people here are tuning into the London games than in any other market in the nation. Jeff Robbins, with the Utah Sports Commission isn't surprised. He says even ten years after Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter games, Olympic fever is still running high in the community.

>>Ogden Looks To Ban Swearing In City Parks

(Ogden, UT) -- Officials in Ogden are looking to pass an ordnance that would ban swearing in city parks. The measure would prohibit the use of "obscene or profane language" at city parks, or recreation facilities and events sponsored by the city. Officials say swearing can lead to physical altercations, which often brings police involvement. Violation of the "Sportsman Ordinance" would be either a class C misdemeanor or an infraction. Under state law, a class C misdemeanor is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a 750 dollar fine.

>>Man Arrested For Alleged Bomb Threat On Bus

(Loveland, CO) -- A man is facing charges in connection with an alleged bomb threat on a Greyhound bus in Loveland Colorado yesterday morning. Loveland police allege 66-year-old Roland Paul Arel made a threat on route from Salt Lake City to Denver. Another passenger called police, who then re-routed the bus to The Ranch in Loveland where it was evacuated. Authorities didn't find any explosives, but Arel was taken into custody.
(Denver, CO) -- President Obama will continue campaigning in Colorado today. He spoke to supporters in Denver yesterday saying women across the country must retain the right to make their own healthcare decisions. Obama later spoke about the economy in Grand Junction. Obama has scheduled campaign stops at the state fairgrounds in Pueblo and Colorado College in Colorado Springs today.

(Salt Lake) The Utah Transit Authority is proposing to change all of its bus routes in Utah County — and many in Salt Lake City — to allow better connections with the new FrontRunner commuter rail section between Salt Lake City and Provo that is scheduled to open Dec. 10.
That includes eliminating all express buses between Utah and Salt Lake counties, and creating or altering local routes to take riders to FrontRunner instead. Details are on the UTA Website including a list of community meeting to explain the changes.
