>>Earlier Stakeouts Could Be Approved For Days Of '47 Parade

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- If the Salt Lake City Council approves a new parade ordinance later this month, you'll be able to stake out your spot along the Days of '47 parade a little earlier. The City Council is considering whether to allow people to claim their viewing spots at 6pm the night before the Pioneer Day tradition. Right now, you can't start before 8pm. The Council will also reconsider its ban on throwing candy at parades. Even if that ban is lifted, don't expect to see a sweeter Days of '47. Parade organizers tell the "Salt Lake Tribune" they won't allow candy to be thrown during the parade because children could scramble under floats and horses to get it.
