(Orem, UT) -- Get ready to deal with a big traffic mess in Orem over the next couple of months. UDOT is going to shut down the entire Orem Center Street exit along I-15 tonight starting at nine o'clock. It's part of the huge I-15 CORE project to rebuild the interstate in Utah County. Not only will on and off ramps be closed until mid-September, but construction work will also force the underpass to close as well. Drivers are being asked to use alternates to avoid the area. Relief from the construction mess is right around the corner, though. The entire CORE project is supposed to be done by the end of the year.

>>Goat Man Mystery Solved

(Ogden, UT) -- Goat Man has been identified, and he was just a guy from California who was preparing to hunt mountain goats. Wildlife officers confirmed to KSTU-TV that a man from California got in touch with them and said he was the one spotted wearing a homemade goat suit on the side of a mountain near Ogden. The Department of Wildlife Resources won't say much more about the man, other than he told them his goat-mimicking was training for a real goat hunt. There was no legal concern with what the man was doing, just a concern that it wasn't very safe to go running around with territorial mountain goats who attack with large horns.

One woman tells the "Salt Lake Tribune" she spent almost a full day staking out her family's parade-viewing spot near the corner of 200 East and 200 South. Kim Lubber says she had to make sure she could get a 30-foot section in order to accomodate 40 aunts, uncles and children from her family. She says her husband's grandparents started their tradition of staking a claim to a viewing spot 50 years ago.

>>Woman Enters Her First Marathon And Wins It

Annie O'Donnell says she originally planned to run a few races this summer while working at the Park City Animal Clinic. She was a runner in college in North Carolina and the 26-year-old eventually decided to enter the Deseret News Marathon yesterday. Amazingly, even though it was her first marathon, she finished first. She tells the paper her first marathon helped fuel her passion for running competitively, and she sees herself running more marathons in the future.
Child Poverty Study Reveals Utah Is Lacking

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A portrait of American children living in poverty is painting a not-so-rosy picture right here in Utah. The "Kids Count" data book released yesterday by the Annie E. Casey Foundation says this state is one of 43 where the number of impoverished children is rising. Between 2005 and 2010 the percentage of Utah kids living below the federal threshold for poverty rose from eleven-percent to 16-percent. The foundation did rank Utah number-eleven nationally for overall kids' well-being.

>>Data Shows Gap In Transit Options And Users

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- While Salt Lake City is number-one nationally for options in mass transit a depressingly low number of residents are actually riding them. An analysis of U.S. Census data by the "Tribune" found that less than three-percent of Salt Lake City workers report using mass transit to get to their jobs. The highest average was in New York City where more than 30-percent of workers ride public transit to get to work. Salt Lake officials say the discrepancy is probably due to the region's love of automobiles combined with the high price for riding the bus and light rail.
